Photo series from our holiday in the Lake District. These images were essentially ‘testers’ for what kind of narrative I would like to tell with the research project , how I would like to present the images, and the look and feel of them.

I especially like the idea of including photographs of the varying natural learning environments that are used in alternative education, and also the way children interact with this learning environment, like in the bottom left image above, of rocks, and sticks, that my youngest child had collected from Coniston Water. These served as various objects in imaginative play, as well as forming the basis of a very interesting discussion on rock formation, and linking the formation of the land in the Lake District, to how when we had been travelling around Scotland we learnt about how Scotland had been found to be once attached to North America through geological sampling. )

Fears, Anxieties, Obsessional thoughts.

I am currently exploring the idea of photographic representation of the fears that I have experienced over the years as a mother, and how before being diagnosed with Anxiety and OCD they really didn’t make a lot of sense to me. These fears are an intrinsic part of my personality, and how I have learnt to cope with them whilst being a mother, has been integral to the journey we are on as a family, and also to our educational journey as well. I am looking at this being part of a frame of projects that link to my FMP.
