SUSTAINABLE PROSPECTS COURSEWORK WEEK 9

SUSTAINABLE PROSPECTS COURSEWORK WEEK 9

In June 2019 I started my MA with Falmouth university as part of an accredited education programme.

 23rd November 2019

This week was the start of the live brief webinars. I rushed back to attend Amy’s webinar with City ID and to try and catch the presentation for the group I had been in as we had been encouraged to attend as many as possible. Sadly, I only managed to capture the last 3/4 minuets of the presentation for the group I had been in, but it did seem like it had gone well.

I did however manage to capture Amy’s presentation. Amy is in the same cohort as myself and together with another lady Ilya, we have formed a core of support for for each other during the MA as we connected very early on. Talking to each other daily about our work, having webinars to go over ideas, ask for advice on certain aspects of our projects, or just to support each other when it gets really really hard !

So it was really important that we were there to support her, for both Ilya and myself.

Ilya flew through my door on the way back from Wales, having rushed to get to me rather than continuing on home through cornwall to watch the presentation as well .

Amy did amazingly presenting with one of her other group members. Their presentation was dynamic, well constructed & researched, and fit in perfectly with city ID’s aesthetics beautifully. It was a really lovely thing to have absolutely zero pressure for having been involved myself, to just be able to support our peer & friend.  The feedback was really positive and their work very well received. They should be really really pleased with what they produced and how they did , it was very impressive.

From a personal point of view, seeing how these video conferences worked, how you can pitch ideas, and the process of making a pitch has been a very valuable tool to learn. I didn’t partake in the brief process myself after having to drop out due to my illness and bereavement, but I have kept up with what has been being suggested, and at what stages people were at, just to have a better idea of the process for if and when I need it in the future, so I still got a lot out of the exercise, even if indirectly.
