Below : THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SHOTS FROM THE WHOLE MODULE .  I LOVE THE CONTEMPLATION IN THE BOYS FACE,  HOW YOU CAN LITERALLY SEE LEARNING HAPPENING INFRONT OF YOUR EYES, AND THE LOVE AND ADORATION IN MUMS FACE AS WELL, AT THE SAME TIME.

THE FRAMING AND SPLITTING OF THE SCENE THROUGH THE LADDER SYMBOLISING THE WINDOW THROUGH WHICH WE SEE THINGS, AND THE MOTHERS GAZE.

BELOW : IT’S SUCH A SHAME I WAITED TILL AFTER I HAD SHOT INSIDE THE HOUSE TO GET THIS PORTRAIT. THERE WAS A BEAUTIFUL LIGHT ACROSS THE FRONT DOOR WHEN I ARRIVED AND I HAD TO MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHETHER TO TAKE THEM OUT STRAIGHT AWAY OR NOW. I DECIDED NOT TO FOR A COUPLE OF REASONS, FIRSTLY YOU NEVER EVER KNOW HOW QUICKLY A CHILD WILL TAKE TO YOU AND LET YOU INTO THEIR WORLD, YOU HAVE TO BUILD UP THAT TRUST WITH THEM, IF WE HAD GONE OUTSIDE I MAY OF HAD BEAUTIFUL LIGHT , BUT DIDN’T KNOW WHETHER THE BOY WOULD BE COMOFRTABLE ENOUGH FOR A PORTRAIT. ALSO THE COTTAGE WHEN I WENT IN, WAS A BEAUTIFUL CORNISH COTTAGE WITH SUPER LOW CEILINGS AND BEAMS, AND I WASN’T SURE HOW LONG THE LIGHT WOULD LAST AS THEY LIVE IN THE BOTTOM OF A VALLEY AS WELL, AND I MADE THE SPLIT DECISION THAT SHOTS INSIDE THE HOUSE WERE MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUTSIDE. WHICH I’M REALLY GLAD I DID AS ALTHOUGH I THINK THE FAMILY WOULD OF BEEN FINE HAVING A PORTRAIT DONE AS SOON AS I GOT THERE, I THINK THE LOSS OF THE FIRST 20/30 MINS OF LIGHT WOULD OF MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE TO THE FEEL OF THE PHOTOS. NOT TO MENTION A LOT OF THEM I WOULDN’T OF BEEN ABLE TO CAPTURE EVEN HALF AN HOUR LATER, AS I USE ONLY AVAILABLE NATURAL LIGHT IN MY IMAGES, AND WITHIN AN HOUR THERE SIMPLY WAS NO LIGHT IN THE HOUSE REALLY.
